The operations this program is built around.
- Water hauling
- Water transfer
- Flowback and water transfer
- Saltwater disposal
Name the peril first. The coverage follows.
Produced-water spills
A release from a tanker, a transfer line or a frac tank is a pollution claim first. Pollution liability that names produced water and drilling fluids is the line the program is built around.
Tanker fleets on lease roads
Loaded tankers on lease roads and highways carry a heavy-fleet auto exposure. Commercial auto for heavy and oilfield fleets, including hired and non-owned, is written for it.
The disposal site
Injection facilities, tank batteries and the transfer equipment around them: site pollution, property, and business interruption for the time a well is shut in.
Transfer line failures
Lay-flat and hard-line runs cross leases, roads and creeks. A failure is a pollution event and a third-party property claim at once.
Class codes at audit
Water hauling payroll splits between trucking and lease work depending on what the crew does. It is split by operation before the policy is written, with records that show who did which.
Contract terms
Hauling and disposal agreements carry indemnity and certificate requirements like any MSA. They get read before signing.

Water & Disposal questions, answered.
Is a saltwater spill covered by general liability?
Not by the standard form. General liability excludes pollution, so a produced-water release from a tanker or a transfer line needs pollution liability written for it, including the cleanup. Programs here are built with contractors pollution that names produced water and drilling fluids.
What class code applies to water hauling?
It depends on what the crew does. Hauling as the operation sits in the trucking code, 7219; crews doing lease work around the water sit in lease work, 6216; and Texas production payroll, including saltwater disposal, can carry its own Texas code. The records have to show who did which. The class code guide on the oil and gas overview page covers each of these.
Do you write disposal well operators?
Yes. Disposal and injection facilities are written with site pollution, property for the facility and its equipment, business interruption for the time a well is shut in, and workers compensation and auto for the crews and the trucks that feed it.
The rest of the energy practice.
